PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL SENIOR INVITATIONAL JUDO TOURNAMENT

The Steveston Judo Club cordially invites Judoka to participate in their 23 rd annual Pacific International Senior Invitational Judo Tournament.
This year we are very pleased to host a team of 10 women and 32 men from Tokai University, with special guest coach Nobuyuki Sato (former world champion). This tournament will be followed by a 2 day training camp led by Jean Pierre Cantin, Canadian Junior National Coach.
This tournament is a Judo Canada Regional Points Tournament and also a selection tournament for BC athletes wishing to participate in the 2008 Canadian Senior Nationals.

 

Date:                  Saturday, February 16th, 2008.

 

Place:                 Steveston Community Centre (Tennis Court Building)

                             4111 Moncton Street   Richmond, B.C.

 

Start Time:      10:00 a.m.

 

Referee Clinic:  9:15 a.m.  As this is a Regional Points Tournament, we 

                           would appreciate the assistance of referees National  “C”

                           or higher.  This is also a Referee Evaluation Tournament

                           for National “B” and  “C”. 

          

Entry Fee:          $35.00 per entry – Mail, fax and e-mail entries must be received

                          by February 11th, 2008 – using attached entry form.    Payment can be made on the day of the tournament. Fees for all entries submitted must be paid for by the club, even if contestants fail to attend.

 

                             $45.00 per entry for all phone and late entries.  Absolutely no

                             entries will be accepted on the day of the tournament.

                         An additional $15.00 will be charged to any contestant who

                          fails to qualify for his/her entered division.

 

Elimination:     Modified double elimination for divisions with more than 5 

                             contestants.  The gold medal match in the winner’s bracket will                    

                             determine first and second place.  The winner of the loser’s

                             bracket will be awarded third place.        

                          Round-robin for divisions with 5 and less contestants.

 

 

Divisions:          The Tournament Director reserves the right to alter the Intermediate Men and Women’s weight divisions if the numbers in these divisions warrants such changes

 

Medals:           Medals will be awarded for first, second and third place.

                          All medal winners must win at least one match.

 

Eligibility:      All participants must be members in good standing with their

                          respective judo associations.  Proof of valid membership

                          may be requested at the weigh-in.                    

                                          

Out of Province:  All out of province competitors will be required to submit

                             a waiver form.  This is to be signed by a parent or

                             guardian for those competitors under 18 years of age.

 

Rules:                 I.J.F. Regulations with the following modifications.  In the Novice and Intermediate Divisions, competitors will be entitled to a rest period between 2 consecutive matches equal to the to the time of their previous match.  In the Senior Men and Women Divisions, competitors will be entitled to a 10 minute rest period between two consecutive matches.

                             The contest area will be inside the red area.

 

Blue Judogi:     All contestants in the Senior Men’s 1st kyu and Blackbelt divisions and Senior Women’s 2kyu, 1kyu and Blackbelt divisions will be required to have both white and blue judogis.
